Thin SFTP Applet
Thin SFTP Applet version 1.01 has been released. The new version aims to fix an incompatibility issue with OS X browsers.
Though the terms SFTP (Secure FTP) and FTP are similar the two protocols are completely different with the latter being totally insecure. SFTP is a secure alternative to the File Transfer Protocol. The SFTP protocol ensure that all commands and data will be transferred between the client and server in a secure encrypted format.
The Thin SFTP applet is designed to be integrated into web applications and web sites owned by security concious web masters. It’s purpose is to provide end users with a secure but convenient and familiar form of file management. The applet is rich in features and includes all the functionality you find in a desktop file transfer program. Some of these features include the ability to upload and download entire directories trees in a single click, rename files and change permissions.
Despite it’s rich feature set the applet is extremely light weight. With a size of just 140KB it’s well worthy of it’s name.
