It Slices, It Squeezes, PUTs and POSTs – Thin Upload Pro is the swiss army knife of file uploaders. The software is the solution to not one but to many of the problems web developers face when handling file uploads on their web sites and applications.

One of the issues addressed is the inability of popular scripting languages and webservers to handle file uploads in excess of 2 Gigabytes. Thin Upload pro solves this by uploading each file one section at a time – something that cannot be done with a simple form based file upload.

Unlike an html form based upload, the applet can gzip the files to save bandwidth. When used as an image uploader it can carry out client side scaling operations. Also available is the option to filter out unwanted file types. The progress monitor that appears when the transfer begins can be configured to display a thumbnail of each file being transferred.

Uploads can be made to both FTP and HTTP servers. In the case of HTTP uploads, Thin Upload Pro can make use of both PUT and POST methods of the hypertext transport protocol and all transfers can be protected by SSL encryptions.
