Trial Downloads are no longer trials

Thin File Team  September 17, 2005 @ 5:08 pm

We thank users who wrote to us during the last week and shared their thoughts about the trial download. Many were unhappy with the fact that the url parameter was locked in. They rightly pointed out that it made it more difficult to carry out a complete test with the trial download. We listened.

We have now removed the lock on the url parameter. That means you can effectively change it to point to any webserver, giving you a better opportunity to test your upload script. The download bundle includes a set of scripts to help you get started. In addition to that, with Thin Image Upload you have the option of using the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) instead of HTTP. With FTP uploads, a handler script is not required to accept the file upload.

With these changes, there are now only two differences between the free trial downloads, and the full version. The first is that the trial can only be used to upload a maximum of 100MB. The second is that the applet will redirect the user to a page on our website five seconds after upload has completed.
